Business Lismore has announced that it will be facilitating a different style of annual awards again this year.

Overseen by the statewide body, Business NSW, the annual Business Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of local businesses and non-profit organisations at local, regional and State levels.

Locally, the Awards program has been run differently since 2020 due to Covid restrictions and the impacts of flood recovery. In 2021, the Awards were run online, and last year local participants entered direct to the Regional Awards.

This year, the Chamber’s plan was to return to ‘normal’ but due to unforeseen circumstances, the Board has decided to facilitate the local Awards in a similar fashion to last year, through the Regional Awards portal.

Business Lismore’s vice-president, Mr Shaun Haysom, said that local business people wishing to apply for the Awards will not be disadvantaged because the application process and judging criteria for the Regional Awards are the same as for the Lismore Awards.

“Participating in the Regional Awards provides the opportunity to compete on a wider scale and gain exposure to a broader audience, including industry professionals and influential figures from surrounding communities,” he said.

The 2023 Business Awards will comprise 21 different categories with each category awarded regionally. The regional winners from aligned categories will then compete against the best from across NSW at the 2023 State Business Awards in November.

Applications for the Regional Awards are now open. Entries close at 5pm on Monday, July 31.

Business Lismore will be convening information sessions to assist local businesses in applying.
